Jonathan Clarke
Jonathan was born in
Solihull in 1977; aged twelve he won the West Midlands under-16 Piano and Organ
Championships, reaching the National Yamaha Finals. In 1996 he was
appointed organ scholar at Trinity College, Oxford, where he studied
under Thomas Trotter, and recorded a CD of Trinity College Choir with Priory
Records. He graduated with a BA hons (music) in 1999, and awarded an MA in 2000. He was appointed Head
of Organ Studies at Eltham College, London; he has also been Organist and
Choirmaster at Knowle Church and composition and piano tutor at Solihull
School. He is currently organist at Tudor Hall Girl’s School as well as teaching both piano and organ privately. For information on his teaching and wedding services visit here.
Jonathan has played
extensively throughout the UK and Europe as an organist and pianist. He was
guest solo organist for the tercentenary of Castle Howard, Yorkshire in 2001
and in the same year made the first of his appearances as organist on the BBC’s
Songs of Praise. He was a finalist
in the Royal College of Organists performer of the year in 2002 and runner up
in the piano recital class of the Birmingham Festival. Jonathan has played solo
recitals at many cathedrals including Durham, Birmingham and Chichester and
notable concert venues such as Symphony Hall, Birmingham and The Barbican. In
2005 he performed Rachmaninov’s Second
Piano Concerto with the Midlands Chamber Orchestra and Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto with the Welwyn
Symphony Orchestra. In 2007 he performed the organ part in Saint Saens Second Symphony with Oxford University
