Sarah Haigh

Sarah was born in Yorkshire and began her singing training with Margaret Duckworth at the age of sixteen. At Birmingham Conservatoire she gained a BA Honours and GBSM Performance Studies Degree, which she passed with distinction, under the tuition of Pamela Cook.

On graduating, she went to study at the Royal Academy of Music and there gained the prestigious Dip RAM and LRAM. In 1993 she was the International Young Singer of the Year at the Llangollen Eisteddfod and at Birmingham Conservatoire she won both the Mario Lanza Opera prize and the Reginald Vincent Lieder prize. In 2000 she represented Britain in the Dutch International Vocal competition at 's-Hertogenbosch.

At the present time Sarah, who lives in Oxfordshire, studies with Janet Edmunds and is busy as an oratorio and recital soloist, singing throughout the British Isles. Performances have included Brahms Requiem (St John's, Smith Square), Monteverdi's Vespers (St James. Piccadilly), Vivaldi's Gloria (Lichfield Cathedral), Bach's B-Minor Mass (Caird Hall, Dundee and Watford Coliseum).

In 2005 she toured with Opera Anywhere, performing the role of 'Susan' in Berkeley's 'The Dinner Engagement' during which time she sang live on Sean Rafferty's 'In Tune' programme on BBC Radio Three. The production was very successful and was toured again in 2007. In February 2008 she sang the role of 'Isolier' in 'Count Ory' with Aylesbury Opera Group.

Sarah also finds time to teach, both privately and at Tudor Hall School in Banbury.
